Man Utd midfielder buries it low for the vital away win of the star-studded Portuguese side
It was anything but an enjoyable night out for Portugal as they had to dig deep to beat Slovakia away on Friday (1-0) in the EURO 2024 qualifiers.
This victory takes the Portuguese side on the verge of qualifying for the continental tournament they won back in 2016.
Although they confronted Milan Skriniar's team with a squad full of stars - like Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo - it could have ended in a goalless draw.
Portugal beat Slovakia 1-0 in Bratislava thanks to a goal from Bruno Fernandes.

Thankfully for their boss, Roberto Martinez, the victory puts them on the summit with 15 points ahead of Slovakia and Luxembourg, who are neck and neck with 10 in the second place.
The decisive moment happened two minutes before the half-time break and was the consequence of Bruno Fernandes' solo artistry all the way. Manchester United's midfielder got the ball near the box and opted for a solo run past several opponents before he buried it smoothly into the far bottom corner.

Albeit the visitors had a couple of chances to increase the lead, especially through Cristiano, it stayed 1-0 on the scoreboard as the pale hosts struggled to create any goal-scoring opportunities throughout the entire game.
