Mwalala leaves the soldiers after just eight months in charge of the club.

Ulinzi Stars have been dealt a major blow ahead of tomorrow’s Mozzart Bet Cup semifinal match against Tusker FC as head coach Bernard Mwalala has announced that he will leave the club after the match against the Brewers.

The news has come as shocker to the players who were focused on downing Robert Matano’s charges to earn a place in the final they will stand a chance of winning the Cup and secure CAF Confederation Cup football for the 2023/24 season.

The tactician informed the players that he was leaving on Friday morning with four more league matches left before the season concludes. This caught the entire playing unit by surprise.

“The coach has told us that he is leaving, no one saw it coming because we had trained well and after that he called for a meeting and informed us that tomorrow’s game will be his last in charge of the team,” one player told Mozzart Sport.

The tactician, according to the source cited hostile working conditions for his decision to depart.

“He did not give us much details but he pointed at unbearable working conditions as the reason to quit. It’s a shocker but we have to focus on tomorrow’s game and try to win it for him because he has been a good coach for us since he joined the club at start of the season,” the player added.

Efforts to reach the former Kenyan international proved futile as calls went unanswered.

Mwalala joined the soldiers before the start of the season from Kakamega Homeboyz and leaves with the club in the 8th position. He has previously handled Nzoia Sugar and Bandari as well.
