The former Gor Mahia forward leaves as the club's all-time top scorer, a feat that will take some effort to break after plundering 130 goals.

Olunga took to social media to announce his departure from the club following an underwhelming season that saw Al Duhail finish trophyless.

"Veni Vidi Vici. Thank you for everything, Al Duhail, leaving as all-time goal scorer, 130 goals and memories, thank you for the trust," read his short parting shot.

In a YouTube video uploaded by the Qatari club, the 31-year-old took time to send his appreciation to the club's hierarchy and the larger Al Duhail fraternity for supporting him.

“I want to thank everyone at the club, starting with the president of the club, the vice president, and the backroom staff, who have really shown great faith in me since I arrived here.

I also want to say thank you to the coaches that I have worked with, I want to say thank you to all the players that I have played with and shared memories with.

I want to say thank you to all the subordinate staff and the medical staff,” he said.

The former Thika United forward also took time to reflect on his stint at the club, which he now departs as a legend.

“It has been a good four and a half seasons since I joined, and the support that I have received on and off the pitch. I have really enjoyed my time here.

Playing for this amazing team has been good. We have shared good memories and also endured bad moments together, but all in all, I have really enjoyed my time here and looking back, it is really a great step that I took,” he added.

The former Girona FC striker expressed his satisfaction with the club even as he remained tight-lipped on his next move.

“Today, I leave with my head held high and so proud of the achievement that we have made here and now let's see what the future holds.”
