The club chairperson says reason for sacking the former Kenyan International is the string of poor performances registered by the club recently
FKF Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz have parted ways with head coach John Baraza and announced the appointment of Technical Director Edward Manoah and Goalkeeper trainer John Waw to be in charge of the team on a temporary basis.
In a Thursday afternoon communication from the club Chairman Shimanyula, Homeboyz also announced that the other members of the technical bench should step aside.
In continuation, the club chairman attributed the impromptu changes to the team’s poor performances this season.
“This is due to the string of poor results we have been recording,” the club chairman said. “I assure fans that plenty of positive changes are on the way and we will start winning matches soon. I ask that they be patient for a while.”
The move comes after Homeboyz lost their last two fixtures; including a 0-1 defeat to Bandari FC on Wednesday afternoon that marked the end of John Baraza’s short tenure at the club.
The former Mara Sugar manager was appointed by the club October last year, replacing former team coach Bernard Mwalala who led the team to a second place finish in the previous discarded season.
Also following Baraza through the exit door is his assistant Peter Okidi – who was in the Homeboyz technical bench.
The club leadership also added that they have asked the players to step up as they are also to blame.
“I have also asked the players to step up because they too should shoulder some blame,” the club chairman said. “Otherwise, those that do not will also be on the way out.”
Kakamega Homeboyz are currently eighth in the FKF Premier League table having won five of their 15 games played. They are 10 points behind leaders Nzoia Sugar FC.
