Brazilian magic for London madness! Martinelli puts PL top on fire

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 21.09.25. | 20:37

In a match that wasn’t the most attractive but certainly full of tension, Arsenal and Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw. The result felt more rewarding for Arteta’s side, considering they scored in the dying minutes

High expectations, and plenty delivered! While we didn’t see many flashy moves, the Premier League drama in stoppage time was unforgettable — Gabriel Martinelli’s stunning 93rd-minute goal earns Arsenal a point, a result that, truthfully, pleases Liverpool the most.

The first half at the Emirates saw Manchester City make the most of the few chances they created, while Arsenal struggled to break through the City defense and register shots on target.

The breakthrough came early in the 9th minute. City launched a swift counterattack, with Reijnders pulling the ball back to Erling Haaland, who made no mistake in a one-on-one with Raya, slotting the ball past the Spanish goalkeeper to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The goal is HERE!

City continued to look dangerous, and in the 20th minute a well-executed combination ended with Reijnders firing at goal, though Rayo handled it comfortably.

Arsenal found it harder to test Donnarumma. In the 41st minute, William Saliba was frustrated after missing a chance: he arrived first to a rebound around 11 meters but headed wide. Just before halftime, Madueke produced a slick solo run through much of the City defense and shot; the ball fell to Calafiori, who volleyed over the bar.

Arsenal’s best opportunity came in stoppage time of the first half (45+1), when Madueke again broke down the right flank and fired at goal, only for Donnarumma to make a stunning reflex save, keeping City ahead 1-0 at the break.

At the start of the second half, Mikel Arteta made two changes for Arsenal, bringing on Saka for Madueke and Eze for Merino. Pep Guardiola responded for Manchester City by introducing Matheus Nunes in place of Khusanov.

The first real chance of the second half came in the 48th minute when Martin Zubimendi found space in the box after a rebound, but his shot went just over the bar. Arsenal nearly doubled their threat two minutes later as Eze fired powerfully from a promising position, only for Donnarumma to make a solid save.

Manchester City had a golden opportunity in the 57th minute. Erling Haaland found himself with plenty of space to shoot and also to pass to an unmarked Phil Foden. He opted to take the shot himself, but Raya was alert and denied him, keeping Arsenal in the game.

Arsenal had seven minutes of stoppage time to somehow get at least an equalizer — and they did! In the 93rd minute, following a brilliant assist from Eze, Gabriel Martinelli played it perfectly and lobbed Donnarumma to make it 1-1. The goal is HERE!
