The Kenyan International returns to training at Sharks ahead of City Stars duel

Kariobangi Sharks and Harambee Stars right-back Daniel Sakari is set to resume training on Tuesday after shaking off an ankle injury.

The full-back was ruled out for two weeks on the eve of the resumption of sporting activities after picking a knock on his right ankle while in training. The injury saw him miss the last two club assignments against his former employer Kakamega Homeboyz at the Utalii grounds and away to Ulinzi Stars last weekend.

However, coach William Muluya will be glad to have him ahead of their next match against Nairobi City Stars and the subsequent ones.

"I am fully fit and ready for selection. I have been training on my own from the time the doctor cleared me. I will join my colleagues in training on Tuesday. I return to the team hungry to help get back to winning ways," he said.

For the time the 2018-2019 new young player of the season second-runner up was sidelined, Muluya threw in national U20 right back Frederick Alushula in the deep end against Homeboyz and turned to the experienced Eric Juma against Ulinzi Stars.

Alushula who joined Sharks in February from Green Commandos procured himself plaudits from all quarters following his solid full debut against Homeboyz but was unfortunate to sprain his thigh muscle in the dying minutes of the game.

He was consequently ruled out for two weeks.

Sakari noted that the two players punched above their weights in the two matches and had the potential to muscle him out of the starting team.

"Alushula played well on his maiden league start but unfortunately he got injured. Juma was also outstanding against Ulinzi. Their performance was a wake-up call to me ahead of my reintegration into the team. I have to work hard for me to retain my place in the starting team, " he added.
