Ingwe tie down seasoned defenders to year-long deals.

Hardly a day after publicly confessing his undying love and desire to extend his stay at AFC Leopards, centre back Robert Mudenyu has been granted his wish as the club has renewed his contract.

Mudenyu came out on Monday to reveal his desire to stay at the den longer prompting the management that was given mandate by the members last month to summon him for negotiations.

The burly defender penned a year-long deal alongside the experienced Collins Shivachi who was also in the final days of his contract.

"We are delighted to announce that our defenders Robert Mudenyu and Collins Shivachi have extended their stay at the club," read a brief post from the club.

The two defenders joined Leopards in 2019 with Mudenyu arriving from the defunct Sony Sugar while Shivachi was acquired after exiting Tusker.

The two defenders proved themselves as valuable assets to the club in the past season as their versatility helped plug in the gaps in the defence whenever injuries crept in as well as suspensions.

The development is certainly welcome news to the technical bench given that the club has been barred from acquiring new players for a year.

The transfer embargo imposed by FIFA has seen the club turn to its youth team that has churned out one of the promising and talented players.

It is also welcome news to the club's fans after reports emerged that coach Patrick Aussems is on the verge of joining Rwandese side Kiyovu Sports.
