It's a three-year contract with $13 million net annual salary

Al-Hilal has partly eased Sevilla's financial problems after the Saudi club decided to pay the Andalucians $24 million to sign their Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine 'Bono' Bounou.

The goalkeeper did his best to overcome Manchester City in his last game for Sevilla, but the UEFA Europa League holders lost the UEFA Super Cup in Athens in a penalty shoot-out. However, the pain from the loss would have lost its sting when Bono flew directly from Greece to Saudi Arabia to put pen to paper and ensure himself the biggest deal of his professional career.

The 32-year-old star wasn't poor, but he will be filthy rich in the Middle East. The proven goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club worth $13 million annually. That's a sum of $39 million tax-free if he stays with Al-Hilal for the entirety of his contract.

Al-Hilal has assembled a formidable team over the past couple of months. The club from Riyadh has recruited Neymar, Malcom, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Kalidou Koulibaly and now the Canadian-born Morocco internationa for a combined fee of $314 million. Bono will compete for a place in the starting eleven with another great goalkeeper, the Saudi international Mohammed Al-Owais, who starred for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Bono leaves Sevilla, having played 142 official games in Los Nervionenses shirt. He won two UEFA Europa League titles, one Zamora Trophy as the best goalkeeper in Spain, and 58 clean sheets. He even scored a goal during his four-year stay at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, scored against Valladolid in the 2020/21 campaign.
