Just a week after breaking up with the Bayern Munchen footballer
Kasia Lenhardt (25), ex-girlfriend of former Manchester City and current Bayern Munchen defender Jerome Boateng, has been found dead in a Berlin apartment thought to belong to Boateng in the upmarket Charlottenborg neighbourhood. The model was found on Tuesday by police who say the death is not being treated as suspicious - Polish model killed herself on her son's sixth birthday.
She had been dating the 32-year-old German/Ghanian defender until February 2, when they announced they are splitting up. Berlin police statement read:
"Yesterday [Tuesday] at around 8.30 p.m. there was a police operation in Charlottenburg on suspicion of suicide. "A lifeless person was found in the home. There are no indications of third-party involvement."
Boateng & Lenhardt (©instagram.com/kasia_lenhardt/)Lenhardt - who had Boateng's name tattooed on her torso - rose to fame nine years ago when she appeared on the reality TV show 'Germany's Next Top Model". She dated the Munich star for 15 months before her death, bring a five-year-old son called Noah who she had in a previous relationship three years ago. But she had endured a difficult relationship with Boateng, engaging in a public war of words with the German's ex-girlfriend Rebecca Silvera. The 32-year-old's ex-girlfriend shared screenshots of conversations exchanged between her and Boateng, as well as her and Kasia, who she complained had forced her way into a relationship with the German international.
Boateng was the first in the couple to announce the split soon after Lenhardt wrote his car off – and was found with alcohol in her blood. Announcing the split, the sportsman said he was going to 'take responsibility and act in the interests of [my] family' while apologising 'to everyone I've hurt especially with my ex-girlfriend and our children'. In an interview with German newspaper Bild, Boateng then accused Kasia of blackmailing him with fake accusations of domestic abuse, while saying she has a 'massive' problem with alcohol.
At the time of Kasia's death Boateng was in Qatar playing for Bayern in the Fifa Club World cup. The team won the semi-final on Monday night 2-0 against Egyptian side Al Ahly SC, and are due to play in the final tomorrow. But Boateng will not be available after he requested to return to Munich, with coach Hansi Flick saying he will not be playing 'until further notice'.
