The African team didn’t perform well in Austria; on the contrary, they scored just one goal while conceding five against the Austrian national team
The World Cup warm-up friendlies are well underway – in the match between Austria and Ghana, the first half was fairly uneventful, with just a single goal. However, the second half turned into a real show, culminating in a phenomenal 5-1 performance in favor of the Austrian team.
Austria took an early lead in the 11th minute when Kevin Danso connected with a long ball and flicked it on with his head, only for it to strike Adjetey’s hand in the box. The referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Sabitzer calmly converted, giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Ghana responded with their first real opportunity in the 31st minute. Following a corner and a scramble in the Austrian penalty area, Semenyo took a shot, but it sailed over the crossbar.
Austria came close again in the 40th minute. Baumgartner delivered a strong assist, allowing the Austrian attacker to fire on goal, but Zigi produced a fantastic save to keep Ghana in the game. The goalkeeper’s intervention was crucial and showcased his sharp reflexes in the first half.
Austria extended their lead early in the second half. In the 51st minute, the Austrian attackers capitalized on a defensive mistake by Ghana. A long ball found Sabitzer, who quickly set up Gregoritsch on the opposite side. Gregoritsch calmly slotted the ball into an empty net, putting the hosts 2-0 ahead.

Austria nearly struck again in the 58th minute. Posch found space down the right flank and fired at goal, but Zigi was alert and made a solid save to keep Ghana in the game.
Just a minute later, Austria made it 3-0. From a corner, the ball was flicked by Gregoritsch across the penalty area, where Posch rose and powered a header into the net, giving Austria a commanding lead.

Ghana finally got on the scoreboard in the 77th minute thanks to a brilliant individual effort by Jordan Ayew. He weaved past three defenders, found space at the edge of the box, and fired a precise shot past the Austrian goalkeeper to make it 3-1.

However, Austria responded almost immediately. In the 79th minute, Chukwuemeka finished a slick move with Sabitzer, executing a quick one-two before finding space to curl a shot under the crossbar, restoring a dominant 4-1 lead for the hosts.

As the icing on the cake, Austria scored a fifth goal when Seiwald collected the ball around 20 meters out, struck it with power, and brilliantly found the net to make it 5-1 for the hosts
