Current Rennes forward will participate in the AFCON 2024
It is no longer a surprise when players change national teams. The rules were also used by Rennes' winger Amine Gouiri. The quick-footed dribbler will play for the Algerian national team in the future, even though he passed through all the younger categories of France. Gouiri will wear the jersey of the popular 'The Fennec Foxes' in the future, as it was officially confirmed last night.

Gouiri was born near Lyon, but has Algerian origins. Even as a child, he was considered one of the greatest talents in French football due to his speed and dribbling. He played for the cadets, youth and youth selection of France. He entered the first team of Lyon when he was only 16 years old and was compared to the previous great offspring of the famous school such as Benzema, Ben Arfa, Lacazette, Fekir...However, great talent was accompanied by an awkward character, so he left Lyon for Nice when he was only 20 years old. He quickly became one of the best players there, but due to an argument with the coach, he left for Rennes a year ago in a transfer worth 28,000,000 euros.
Although it was expected that after all the junior selections of France, he would one day be a member of the A national team, Didier Deschamps didn't invite him to the senior team. Some say it was because of slower progress than expected, some because of a strong competition.
"Of course I'm thinking about the jersey of the A selection of France. It is up to me to work and do everything in my power to get the call. There is strong competition in my position, but I think that the variety in the game can help me to convince the manager" Gouiri said two years ago.
However, France's invitation never came and Algeria took advantage of the situation. They convinced him for months and finally he agreed.
"The years spent in the French jersey will forever remain attached in my heart. Thanks for everything, but now it's time for a new chapter in my career," said Gouiri in a statement. The Rennes attacker will be a capital reinforcement for Algeria, which is participating in the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11 next year and will be one of the favorites. In addition to Gouri, the best players of this team are mostly footballers born in France who went through the junior representative categories of France, such as: Riyad Mahrez (Al Ahly), Houssem Aouar (Roma), Ismael Bennacer (Milan), Rayan Aït-Nouri (Wolves), Nabil Bentaleb (Lille )...
