Big Rom is back and it took him only two minutes to make a statement

Lukaku found the back of the net against Lecce on the opening night of the Serie A season (2-1)

Form is temporary, but class is permanent, the old saying goes.

And Romelu Lukaku is living proof of it, as the Belgium striker netted only two minutes into the new season for his Inter Milan. The former Chelsea striker struggled the entire last season at Stamford Bridge to find a satisfying form, but with the Milan-based slot, it seems much more convenient for him.

His Inter conceded later, but managed to win eventually at Lecce, thanks to a last-gasp stoppage time Dumfries' winner in the opening match of the 2022/23 Serie A.

Lukaku's opener came as a consequence of a lovely piece of the action as Darmian assisted him for a header that put Nerrazzuri in front.

Despite some attempts in the first half, the favourites failed to double the lead, while Lecce were hardly pushing in the final third, leaving Handanovic with nothing to do for the vast part of the first half.

However, things changed significantly when the sides returned after the break.

Gambian forward Assan Ceesay launched a superb counter-attack two minutes into the second half, finishing it in some style to level the score.

This forced Simone Inzaghi's immediate reaction, adding Dzeko to ensure some more firepower in the offence, along with Lautaro and Lukaku. Still, it was Dumfries who almost restored Inter's lead as his header hit the post.

The same player, however, became a hero late in the injury time, as he netted in the very last seconds of the game for a deserved victory.
