Juventus give up on Memphis and thrash out a deal for Marseille's Milik

Have you seen Juventus' terrible match at Sampdoria? They were so poor in attack that they quickly had to go back to the drawing board and devise a new plan to bolster their striking options. But rather than proceeding to pursue Barcelona's Memphis Depay, they will opt for Marseille's Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik.

The deal with the Pole's striker has already been struck, so all that's left if for the French club to greenlight the agreement. It's one of those deals that will hardly excite the vast Juventus fanbase, though. The $81.6 million addition of Dusan Vlahovic in January has been greeted with jubilation because the big Serb is such a promising talent. And today, Juventus have given up on Depay so that they would save $7 million in wages over two years. The Dutchman asked for a yearly salary of $7.5 million over a two-year contract, while the 28-year-old Pole will settle for $3 million per year.

Juventus will try to save money by delaying the payment to Marseille as well. Rather than buying the player outright, they offered a season-long loan before paying $8 million. However, OM's director of football Javier Ribalta, who has previously worked at Juventus, demands $2 million for the loan with the future fee set at $10 million. Now is the time for Juventus to show the cash they've been boasting not so long ago.

Milik is currently in Capri, Italy - officially on leave. The Marseille club knows that the Pole won't play for them again. It's all about reaching the satisfactory fee now.

Juventus are also looking to complete a deal for Leandro Paredes of Marseille's biggest rivals Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder is also keen to join them, but the finances are proving a stumbling block. There is a pattern forming there...
