Bhai credits Mwalala for Homeboyz's unblemish start

Homeboyz are yet to concede a goal this season

Long-serving Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Ali Bhai has credited their superb start of life in the current Football Kenya Federation Premier League season to tough pre-season training sessions employed by coach Bernard Mwalala.

Homeboyz have kicked off the season in the best way possible, wining all their three matches and at the same time kept cleansheets in all to sit second on the log behind Nairobi City Stars. 

Bhai who is in his seventh season at the club revealed that Mwalala got it right when they resumed training ahead of the start, polishing all departments and signed quality players to strengthen the squad.

Mwalala who served as an assistant coach during last season's second leg took over the reigns after his boss Nicholas Muyoti was head hunted by Nairobi City Stars.

"Coach Mwalala was tough in the pre-season. He prepared the team well and acquired good players in each department. The reason as to why we are yet to concede a goal is we are playing as a unit," he said.

Bhai who doubles up as the assistant skipper also lauded the management led by Cleophas Shimanyula of the club for being consistent in matters player welfare and backing the team through thick and thin.

" The boss has been delivering on his promises and he is our number one fan. He has made the environment conducive for us all and thus the positive results," he noted.

Meanwhile Bhai who is battling to regain full fitness and a place in the team believes that the league title is theirs to lose this season.

The midfielder missed the final rounds of last season due to a knee injury that impeded him from having quality preparations in the pre-season and from contesting for playing time in the previous rounds.

"We have come close in the past seasons but we do not have an excuse this time round. We have the depth and quality as well as the support from the management. The players ought to work harder and be consistent throughout the season," he added..
