Marseille sold Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Saudi Al-Qadsiah for 10,000,000 euros

In Marseille's dismal last season, which saw them finish eighth in Ligue 1, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the few bright spots. The veteran scored and set up goals even at the age of 35, but he did not stay at the Velodrome, nor will he be part of the project of new coach Roberto De Zerbi. Although the management initially wanted to keep the Gabonese and prevent a transfer to Saudi Arabia, in the end they changed course and let him go to Al-Qadsiah for 10,000,000 euros!

"Beware, the Black Panther is here!" announced the most active Saudi club this summer after today promoting Aubameyang, who signed a two-year contract. At first, the target for the club from Khobar was Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri, but an objectively better football player arrived at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium. True, in his late playing years (he is 35), but after a season in which he delivered 30 goals and 11 assists in all competitions as Marseille's striker.

What Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli did in the football market last summer, Al-Qadsiah are now doing. True, they pay much smaller compensations, but they bring in famous names and since the start of the transfer window, they have been the most active Saudi club.

With a team that included, among others, Mbaye Diagne, Luciano Vietto, Alvaro Gonzalez, Andre Carrillo, Kevin Rodrigues, Al-Qadsiah took a walk through the second tier of Saudi football and won promotion. Summer transfer activities show that just being in the elite is not enough. The aforementioned footballers left the club at the end of the season, and upgraded versions arrived, such as Real Madrid's Nacho Fernandez, Nathan Nandez, whose contract with Cagliari expired, and Belgian goalkeeper Koen Casteels from Wolfsburg

Aubameyang, a man with 459 appearances, 236 goals and 73 assists in the top five leagues, wore the jersey of Arsenal, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Saint Etienne and Marseille. However, Auba is not the highest-paid player of the newly promoted Saudi club this summer. Colombian goalscorer Julian Quiñones was paid almost 14,000,000 euros to the Mexican club America.

Everything Al-Qadsiah are doing this summer confirms that they will not be visiting in the Saudi Pro League, but that their ambition is to compete with the select company of giants such as Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli. They already have certain arguments to stand in line with the 'big four'.
