Both sides have endured inconsistent starts to the 2025/26 campaign, but while Atalanta remain unbeaten under new manager Ivan Jurić,

Lazio are still trying to find their rhythm after a mixed run of results.

With neither side quite hitting top gear, this fixture represents a pivotal opportunity to gather momentum heading into a busy period of the season.

La Dea have shown glimpses of a team in transition but with promise.

Jurić’s arrival has brought defensive discipline and tactical versatility, but the results have yet to fully reflect that potential.

Atalanta are unbeaten in Serie A after six rounds (W2, D4), but four draws have held them back from challenging the league’s early pacesetters.

Their most recent outing - a frustrating 1-1 draw against mid-table Como - was emblematic of their season so far: solid in structure, but lacking a clinical edge to put games to bed. This has left them sitting sixth in the table, just two points shy of Juventus and Inter.

In the last five head-to-head meetings, both sides have two wins each.

Notably, three of those victories came away from home.

Lazio, on the other hand, have been something of an enigma this season.

After a sluggish start in which they failed to score in three of their first four league matches, they’ve found some attacking rhythm in recent fixtures. A 3-0 win over Genoa and a dramatic 3-3 draw with Torino suggest Maurizio Sarri’s side are beginning to rediscover their offensive edge. However, defensive fragilities continue to undermine their progress - evidenced by the Torino collapse, where they surrendered a 2-1 lead and required a last-gasp penalty to salvage a point.

Currently 13th in the standings, Lazio have struggled away from home, with losses to Sassuolo (1-0) and Como (2-0) earlier in the campaign adding to their road woes.

That said, their ability to turn in dominant displays, such as the 4-0 win over Hellas Verona, highlights a dangerous streak when things click - though consistency has proven elusive.

Historically, this is one of Serie A’s most evenly matched rivalries in recent times.

Since the 2019/20 season, the 12 meetings between Atalanta and Lazio have produced four wins each and four draws.

Interestingly, home advantage has had little bearing on results, with five of those fixtures being won by the visiting team. In their last encounter in April, Lazio edged a tight 1-0 win in Bergamo, but Atalanta had claimed a convincing 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier that season.

In terms of form, Atalanta head into the clash slightly better positioned.

Their last five matches have produced two wins and two draws with only one loss, including strong performances against Lecce (4-1) and Torino (3-0).

Their tactical identity under Jurić is becoming clearer - solid defensively, with quick transitions and an emphasis on wing play.

Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been particularly impactful, scoring in successive league games before the break and netting for Ghana in World Cup qualifying. Ademola Lookman also returned to the starting lineup last time out after a turbulent summer, and his creativity could be key against a vulnerable Lazio defence.

Lazio’s recent run has been more erratic.

Their last five games show two wins, two losses, and one draw.

The 3-0 win over Genoa was encouraging, but defeats to Roma and Sassuolo exposed ongoing issues at the back.

Matteo Cancellieri has been a bright spark, scoring three goals so far - all in the first half - and his early-game sharpness may be vital in unsettling Atalanta’s backline.

Injury-wise, both teams are carrying concerns.

For Atalanta, Marten de Roon returns from suspension, which is a boost to their midfield stability.

However, several key players remain doubtful: Charles De Ketelaere,Gianlucca Scamacca and Saed Kolasinac are all battling fitness issues.

Lazio are also not at full strength, with Mattia Zaccagni ruled out and doubts over Adam Marusic, Matias Vecino, Nicolo Rovella, and others.

Tactically, the match could hinge on Atalanta’s ability to control possession and stretch Lazio in wide areas.

Jurić’s preferred structure relies on overloads down the flanks and quick vertical transitions.

If Sulemana and Lookman find space, Lazio’s full-backs could be in for a long afternoon.

Lazio are likely to set up in a compact shape, looking to counter, while hoping Cataldi can dictate the tempo in midfield.

However, Sarri’s side have struggled when forced to defend deep, and Atalanta’s pressing style may prove disruptive.

From a betting perspective, recent trends point toward a competitive and relatively low-scoring affair.

Lazio have seen under 2.5 goals in six of their last eight away games, and Atalanta’s recent Serie A matches have all ended with no more than three goals.

Both teams have shown signs of attacking intent lately, and with creative players on both sides, a few goals could still be on the cards.

Key Pointers

Atalanta have won twice in their last five matches.

83% of Atalanta's matches end with goals from both teams, with an average total of 2.67 goals per match.

Lazio have won one out of their last four matches.

17% of Lazio's matches end with goals from both teams, with an average total of 2.83 goals per match.

While neither side has found peak form yet this season, Atalanta’s home advantage and slightly better cohesion under Jurić gives them the edge.

Expect a tight, tactical battle where one goal may be enough to separate the sides.
