Inter Milan come into this match in formidable form. The Nerazzurri secured a 2-0 away victory over Parma in midweek, extending their winning streak in Serie A to six matches and registering their ninth clean sheet of the campaign.

That result underlined a key theme of their season so far: defensive solidity combined with consistent attacking output. Inter have lost just twice in their last 15 league games, winning 13 in that stretch, and they currently boast the best defensive record among the title contenders.

At home, their attacking intent has been evident, scoring three or more goals in four of their last six league matches at the San Siro.

Sitting top of the table with 42 points from 18 games, Inter will view this fixture as an opportunity to extend their lead and strike a psychological blow against a direct rival. From a team news perspective,

Inter are boosted by the likely returns of Andy Diouf and Matteo Darmian, although Denzel Dumfries remains sidelined.

Key players such as Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram continue to drive their title push, with Martínez leading the line and Thuram rediscovering his scoring touch with six goals in his last eight appearances.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu also remains influential, particularly in big games, having scored the opening goal in three of the last five Serie A meetings with Napoli.

Napoli, meanwhile, arrive under slightly more pressure.

The Partenopei were held to a 2-2 draw at home by relegation-threatened Hellas Verona in midweek, a result that ended their four-game winning run in all competitions.

That draw highlighted recent inconsistencies, as Napoli have dropped points in four of their last nine league matches.

Away from home, the trend is more concerning: they have lost four of their last eight Serie A away games, including a 2-1 defeat away earlier this season against AC Milan.

Napoli sit third on 38 points, and while still firmly in the title race, their margin for error is narrowing. Injuries have also disrupted Napoli’s rhythm. Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa, and Romelu Lukaku are all unavailable, significantly weakening midfield control and attacking depth.

David Neres missed the last match with an ankle issue and remains a doubt, although Pasquale Mazzocchi returns from suspension.

Scott McTominay has been a bright spot, scoring against Verona and previously netting in the reverse fixture against Inter, but he will have a heavy burden to carry in a depleted side.

Historically, Inter have held the upper hand in this fixture.

They have lost just two of the last 14 competitive head-to-head meetings, although one of those defeats came in the reverse fixture in October when Napoli won 3-1.

Inter are unbeaten in their last six home league matches against Napoli, while the visitors have not won a Serie A game at the San Siro against Inter since 2017.
