Burkinabe striker Lassina Traore, 20, joins Shakhtar Donetsk after two successful seasons at Ajax
A young Burkinabe striker Lassina Traore agreed terms with the Ukraine powerhouse Shakhtar Donetsk. The 20-year-old forward, a cousin of much-praised Aston Villa winger Bertrand Traore, recorded a total of 31 appearances in the Ajax jersey and scored 12 goals.
The striker from Burkina Faso had a great start to the season in Amsterdam, scoring seven goals with six assists in the Eredivisie while also making an impact in the Champions League (two assists). The striker who was mocked for being overweight at the start of his career at the Johan Cruyff Arena exploded at the beginning of last season. It seemed that Ajax produced another star of European football.

As Traore entered the last year of his contract with the club, a decision was made to sell him to Shakhtar, who seemed to have done a very good job.
