Although president Joan Laporta was confident about the financial part of the deal, it seems the Blaugrana must take on debt to pursue the transfer

The whole of Europe, let alone Spain, has been talking about Nico Williams' potential move to Barcelona.

The player seems interested in joining his Red Fury teammate Lamine Yamal at Camp Nou, but the question of all the questions is, can Barca afford him?

Although president Joan Laporta recently said that Barcelona could afford Williams despite various financial issues, it appears now that Laporta's statement was based more on optimism than on reality.

His €58m release clause, amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, will be too challenging for the Catalan club, so they'll be forced to reach out for some borrowed money.

According to Cadena SER, they will take out a new line of credit to fund the deal.

A couple of months ago Barcelona secured a €100m line of credit in order to be able to pay their bills over the next few months.

Nico, you should maybe think twice...
