The Dockers played host to the Glamour Boys in an FKF Premier League match on Sunday, 28 September at the KPA Sports Club, Mbaraki, where the visitors emerged with a 1-0 victory courtesy of Harambee Stars winger Brian Michira.
Bandari have now picked just one point from their opening two matches following a goalless draw against Kariobangi Sharks in their season opener.
Speaking to the media after the Shabana clash, Odhiambo explained the factors that led to the disappointing home loss.
“It is a game of chances, and it is about utilising the chances that you get. That was one of our main undoings. Our conversion rate is so low,” said Odhiambo.
The former Harambee Stars assistant coach also took issue with the manner in which his team defended, leading to the match’s only goal.
“We gave the opponent all the time and space. It was not even a dangerous move. It is something that we ought to have dealt with. They did not create many chances; they scored from a half-chance,” he added.
On a sad note for the 2019 Mozzart Bet Cup winners, youngster William Gitama, who came on as a substitute, could not complete the game.
“The worst for us, though, is the injury to Willy Gitama. He could not continue, and we even ended the match with 10 men as we had already exhausted the substitutions.”
Despite the slow start, the former Chemelil Sugar tactician backs his team to bounce back and clinch the elusive FKF Premier League title.
“The league is a marathon. It is a battle, and there is no despair. You can start slowly but still win in the end,” he stated.
The Dockers, who are 14th on the log, will be out to make amends when they host Murang'a Seal on Saturday, 4 October.
