Tanzanian international Feisal 'Fei Toto' Salum has explained how Azam FC secured their first CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) group stage win at the expense of Nairobi United.

Dancun Omalla gave the hosts the lead in the 13th minute, but Azam responded through Japhte Kitambala and an own goal by Ernest Mohammed in the 78th minute to secure all points.

Speaking after the match, Fei Toto expressed his thoughts on the efforts that delivered the crucial win.

We followed the instructions of the coach, and it worked perfectly. We have not yet qualified as of yet, hence each game is like a final for us.

We will go back to the training ground and perfect what worked well while also correcting the mistakes that we made,” said Fei Toto.

Besides the win, the former Young Africans (Yanga) midfielder enjoyed the support Kenyans accorded him and the team.

“I thank all the Kenyan fans for their love. I felt like playing at home, and I really want to wish them well in their undertakings,” he added.

Despite the win, the 28-year-old acknowledged that there is more to work on before Azam can book a place in the last eight.

Expect good things (in Zanzibar). We will continue to work hard to do well in this competition. We aim to progress to the next phase,” he added.

With the result, Naibois’ chances of reaching the quarter finals drastically reduced as the club remains at the bottom of Group B without a point.
