Dabo is expected to take over next season

Tanzanian side Azam FC have appointed 43-year-old Senegalese Youssouph Dabo as the new head coach for a period of three years.

With only three matches left to the end of the current season, the new coach is expected to take charge of the club starting with the 2023/24 campaign.

Dabo will not be a total stranger at Azam having worked with defender Malickou Ndoye at Teungueth FC before the latter left for Azam in July 2022.

At the same club, he also coached Simba SC player Pape Ousmane Sakho.

His coaching career has seen him handle the Senegal U20 side between January 2019 and February 2021 besides coaching several clubs in the country.

Azam has been under the interim management of coach Kali Ongala since October 2022 when French tactician Denis Lavagne was shown the door after a poor run.

Ongala has managed to steer the ice cream makers to third on the log with 53 points and with just three matches left to play although fourth-placed Singida could finish ahead of them if they win all their remaining matches.
