Ayunga watches from the bench as Morecambe win to get off drop zone

Morecambe play Portsmouth and two promotion hopefuls in MK Dons and Sunderland for their last three matches

Jonah Ayunga watched proceedings from the bench as Morecambe picked up an important 3-2 win over Charlton Athletic in an English League One match on Friday evening.

The win saw Morecambe lift off the relegation zone and on to 19th with 41 points, with three matches left to play to the end of the campaign.

Cole Stockton gave Morecambe the lead after 26 minutes capitalizing on a Greg Leigh pass before Arthur Gnahoua doubled the lead with two minutes left to the break.

On resumption for the second half, Jayden Stockley pulled one back for Charlton Athletic after just eight minutes but Gnahous struck again at the hour mark to reclaim Morecambe's two-goal cushion and complete his brace.

With nine minutes left o full time, Chuks Aneke pulled back one more for Charlton Athletic having been in the field of play for only six minutes following his introduction in the 75th minute.

Morecambe have tough opponents for their last three fixtures, coming up against Portsmouth, then promotion hopefuls MK Dons, then wrap up the season against Sunderland who are also gunning for promotion to the Championship.

Elsewhere, Henry Ochieng featured full minutes as his side Billericay Town fell to Dartford at home to slump to the bottom of the log with five matches left to play.

Jack Jebb and Marcus Dinanga grabbed a goal each in either half to win Dartford win 2-0 and leave Ochieng and his teammates rooted at the bottom of the log.
