Ayany challenges Kibera Black Stars to emulate duo

Kibera Black Stars head coach Elvis Ayany has challenged his players to draw inspiration in their hunt to go professional from the duo of Hillary Okoth and Bill Okumu who secured full football scholarships in the United States of America in March.

The two midfielders joined the Putnam Science Academy after impressing while at the second-tier club which is among the half a dozen clubs chasing promotion to the top flight.

Ayany said the exit of the two midfielders left the rest of the players persuaded that the door to professional football was wide open to those who put in a shift. 

"I have young players who want to play abroad in the near future at my disposal. They have various role models whom they look up to but I have been reminding them that Okumu and Okoth are the perfect examples to emulate. It is my joy to see my players getting deals abroad and I encourage the remaining ones to keep on working hard for scouts are always monitor their progress," he said. 

Ayany who helped KCB gain promotion in 2018 after three years in the second tier exuded confidence that he will achieve a similar feat with Kibera despite losing the two midfielders and dry coffers.

Kibera who had a false start to life in the campaign sit fifth on the log with 32 points, five shy of league toppers FC Talanta whom they play in their subsequent match.

"I made it while at KCB and hopefully I will achieve it here at Kibera. I have talented players who are hungry for success but the only undoing is lack of sufficient finances to motivate them," he added.
