He however allayed fears that the setback would require him to go under the knife or will see him sidelined for long.
"I got injured on Monday in training but the injury isn't that serious. The doctor told me he will assess me next week and hopefully, he will not deliver bad news for I am working on my skills ahead of my transfer to Austria. The club had secured me a deal in Austria which can be completed anytime from now, " he said.
Mwendwa who is christened as Tiano was part of the U20 team which reached to the semifinals of the CECAFA championship held last year in Arusha, Tanzania.

The youngster who is hardly a month after writing his final Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at the Anointed High School in Kariobangi said he was looking forward to going professional soon.
Previously, in an interview, the player who has spend the last six years at the Korogocho based academy said he was keen to emulate Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe by heading to Europe without gracing the local league.
"I am yearning to go to Europe once the deal is completed and the doctor gives me a clean bill of health. I thank Acakoro for paying my high school fees and giving me a platform to showcase my talent," he added.
