At 2 am, Osimhen parties at the roof of a team bus with 10,000 fans

The long awaited title is so close, that the good people of Naples can smell it! After a thrilling 1-0 victory over Juventus in Turin, when Giacomo Raspadori scored a 93rd minute winner, Napoli is on the verge of their only third title in Serie A, the first one after the famous Diego Armando Maradona one. And the title can be officially theirs in less than a week, six rounds before the official closure of the season. So, the emotional Napoli fans decided to start celebrating by showing up at the airport at 02:40 in the morning!

The Partenopei landed from Turin and saw a massive gathering outside the airport, with 10.000 strong waiting for them and their coach bus. So, if the fans are already there, why not celebrate? Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen went to the roof the team bus, while captain Di Lorenzo chanted through a megaphone. The Nigerian forward even broadcasted the even live on his Instagram account. The players already celebrated the victory in the dressing room at Juve stadium prior to landing in Naples, as the title is so close now, that even coach Luciano Spalletti was a bit more relaxed. The Napoli coach will also have a personal moment when his team wins the title, as this will be his first ever as a coach and a player.

“Let us wait before popping champagne corks and hearts, because it’s not done yet. I congratulated the team, because they played well and it wasn’t easy just days after the regrets of the Champions League exit. I don’t think we could’ve done any more today. Every now and then you do look back. I have not travelled around in first class looking out of the window, it was by hitch-hiking! So when you find yourself in a position to win this Scudetto, it repays you for all the sacrifices that you made over the years” said the coach.

The fans can hardly wait to make the final celebration when they mathematically win the championship, and that could happen if they win against Salernitana on Saturday and the second-placed Lazio loses or draws in Milano against Inter on Sunday. They have earned 78 points in 31 games this season with 25 wins, three draws and three defeats. Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo is aware that he will be the first Napoli player after famous Maradona to lift the trophy.

“It does feel strange, that I could be the next captain to lift the trophy after the great Maradona. We are all trying to savour every moment of a wonderful journey” said the player.
