After only a handful of appearances, the veteran keeper announces his Goodison Park departure. However, that one would be remembered for sure...

Asmir Begovic has announced he's leaving Everton. The Bosnian goalkeeper joined the Blues in 2021 and has made a total of ten appearances in all competitions. Out of contract at the end of this month, it seems a decision has been made for the 35-year-old to seek a new challenge away from Merseyside.

He posted to social media:

"To all Evertonians, thank you for the last two years and letting me be part of your club and embracing me as one of your own.

"It has been a pleasure to represent you all and be part of your whole community. To all the staff, players and most importantly you the fans, thank you and all the very best.

"Up the Toffees."

A dependable figure when called upon, Begovic was stuck behind Jordan Pickford in the pecking order but has largely been unused due to a lack of progress in cup competitions. He'll be maybe remembered for non-footballing reasons as he was between the sticks during that bizarre incident during the clash against Newcastle, when a young man tied himself to one of the posts by his neck at the Gwladys Street End.

After a stoppage of about eight minutes, the 21-year-old called Louis, was carried from the pitch, with Toffees fans seen throwing objects at him. The supporter was apprehended before being led away.
