Arsenal's strong African midfield in addition to the powerful African attack?

Ghanaian and Egyptian midfielders might get partnered up with a Malian colleague. With a Gabonese captain and a rising Ivorian winger, Arsenal are hopeful these additions will steer them upward
Arsenal staff, players and their supporters are eagerly waiting for this disappointing campaign to end. Until then, the team will try and fight for some European football in the upcoming campaign, Europa League preferable. In order to resurrect club's fortunes following torrid results, people at Emirates Stadium plan on making some changes. Bringing fresh 'blood' into the squad is a part of that plan.
Ghanaian Thomas Partey came from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and hasn't made as much impact on the Arsenal midfield game as most at Emirates Stadium expected. Especially Mikel Arteta. But the Spaniard is not giving up on the Black Stars footballer and wishes to bring reinforcements to help Partey out.
Yves Bissouma has been linked to many clubs but mostly Liverpool and Arsenal. The Malian midfielder has been one of the best (if not the best) Brighton players this season. With already having two African players in their attacking line (captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Gabon and Nicolas Pepe from Ivory Coast), Arteta and his assistants believe that an African connection in the midfield also could strengthen the team immensely.
According to reports, along with empowering the midfield Arsenal are looking to strengthen in as many as five positions this summer. North Londoners are facing their first season without European football for 25 years and the young Spanish manager is wasting no time and has already identified targets in five positions he wants to add reinforcements.
As football.london states, Arteta will focus on central midfield. With Bissouma as a target, Sander Berge from the relegated Sheffield United side is also on the list. There is a high probability of Dani Ceballos returning to Real Madrid and with the uncertain futures of Matteo Guendouzi, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka - Gunners could accumulate some money and create room in that area.
Egyptian Mohamed Elneny has produced mixed performances ever since debuting in 2016 but it seems that Arteta has a soft spot for the midfielder from the land of the pharaohs.
Norway captain Martin Odegaard is happy in north London, reports suggest, but it is a question whether Real Madrid would be keen to let him go on a second loan deal. Also Arsenal's ability to sign him permanently is in doubt given their limited budgets.
Midfield is a thinker but the club also wishes to add some depth on defensive flanks. Hector Bellerin might be leaving, interest in Brighton's Tariq Lamptey cooled following his injury and a deal for Achraf Hakimi from Italian champions Inter Milan would be difficult to pull off - so the report adds that Norwich's Max Aarons appears the most realistic target to replace the Spanish defender.
On the left, first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney has suffered injuries on a regular since coming from Celtic in 2019 and Arsenal are seeking cover for that position also. Champions League winner with Chelsea, now a member of Southampton, Ryan Bertrand - who will leave the Saints at the end of the season - has been mentioned. Also the Hibernian youngster Josh Doig came up.
Between the posts - Germany international Bernd Leno has two years left on his deal and if he departs, football.london claims that Brentford goalkeeper David Raya will emerge as a serious contender. Since joining on loan from Brighton, current secondary goalie Mat Ryan is said to have impressed Arteta.
In the front, Gunners stand pretty solid. Aubameyang, Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun are all tied down with contracts and Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly been offered a one-year extension so the club may stick with what they already have at disposal.
Defensive line could go through a 'facelift' also - it has been mentioned that David Luiz is set to leave Emirates in the summer. Fulham's Joachim Andersen has been monitored the most as a replacement.
With William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos are at their loan spells at Nice and Stuttgart but are believed to get their chance to impress Arteta in pre-season to come.
