The former Gunner is still their top paid player

There are numerous financial guru’s who are writing books or giving lectures all over the world with a single question: How to get rich? One of the most common answers is to have another job, but not actually working on in, but rather having a job on which you get money but you are actually not doing anything. For example: having a house to rent (and get money) or buying/selling stocks, or interest in the bank...or maybe getting the money from Arsenal without playing for the club?

Mesut Ozil is a prime example of this: the midfielder is currently playing for Fenerbahce in Turkey, but still receives loads of money from Arsenal doing nothing, according to The Athletic. In a deal that was supposed to be a „free transfer“, the Germany National team player went to the Turkish league to play for the Istanbul club, but in reality, the deal was done in a way that Arsenal is still paying his wage of staggering 47.305.023 KSh a week!

The Gunners wanted to get rid of Ozil, since his contract was ending in June 2021, but nobody wanted to touch him because of the 52.561.137 KSh a week wage. So, in order to facilitate the deal (any deal), Arsenal agreed to pay 90% of his wage until June 2021, when his contract with the Gunners whould run out. With this sum, Ozil is effectively still the highest payed player in the club, even more than skipper and top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the player is not in the club anymore. So, Ozil is getting this sum every week, plus the money he gets from Fenerbahce, which is believed to be only 5.256.113 KHs a week.

With a financial dealings like this, it is reasonable to see why Arsenal jumped at the chance to join the European Super League.
