Elye Wahi has been quite shy for Olympique Marseille this season, but the Gunners believe he could be just what they need

Various names have been circulating as potential Arsenal reinforcements in the January Transfer Window following Gabriel Jesus' injury. However, Elye Wahi of Olympique Marseille seems to be the top contender for joining the Gunners.

According to a report by La Provence, the North Londoners are interested in the 22-year-old forward of Ivorian origins, who represented France in the Paris Olympics.

Arsenal were apparently impressed by Wahi's performance against them in the UEFA Champions League last season. Wahi represented Lens and scored in the home game, making a statement, which probably led to his later move to OM for a fee of €25m plus add ons.

Still, it's been quite a struggle for him at the Velodrome, as he has netted just three times in 13 games so far.

As per L'Equipe, Arsenal would have to face competition from fellow Premier League side West Ham United, as they are also interested in the player. The Hammers are trying to find a proper replacement for their two injured attackers - Niclas Fullkrug and Michael Antonio.
