Harambee Starlets international Corazone Aquino managed to get her first win in the CAF Women’s Champions League after her Tanzanian outfit Simba Queens defeated Liberia’s Determine Girls 0-2 in the ongoing 2022 edition of the continental tournament currently being played in Morocco.

In the match staged on Wednesday evening, Simba were looking to get up and running in the tournament where they were making their debut as they had already lost their first match 1-0 to home side AS FAR on Sunday.

After struggling to breach the defense put up by the Liberian girls in the first half, Simba finally managed to get on the scoreboard just eight minutes into the second half as captain Opa Clement found the back of the net.

With eleven minutes left on the clock, Olaiya Barakat sealed the first victory for Simba as she doubled the lead for Simba which resulted to the 2-0 full time score.

Sven Yidah

In the CAF Confederation Cup, former Nairobi City Stars defensive midfielder Sven Yidah was once again missing from the Marumo Gallants matchday squad named to take on Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli in the first leg match of the additional Second Preliminary Round with the club failing to disclose his whereabouts.

In the Kenyans absence the team went down to a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a lone goal scored by Al Ahli in the very first minute of the game, a lead the team from North Africa resolutely held onto for the entirety of the match.

Lawrence Juma

In Rwanda, Lawrence Juma was named in the AS Kigali starting eleven that took on Musanze FC, a side coached by Kenyan tactician Frank Ouna, on Wednesday at the Kigali Stadium.

The game however failed to produce any fireworks as both sides settled for a barren draw which left the teams in 3rd and 4th respectively tied on 13 points each.
