It is believed that the West Ham striker broke a leg in a horrific accident

A single glance at the image that spread across social media on Saturday afternoon sent chills down the spine, evoking dark thoughts. However, a reassuring update has come from England—West Ham striker Michail Antonio is in stable condition.

“West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area. Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital. At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The Club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course“ reads the short but optimistic statement from the club.

Hammers pray for Michail Antonio following a severe car crash

To recap, the experienced Jamaican international was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday afternoon, with reports indicating he was the only individual involved. The incident is believed to have occurred around 12:50 PM local time. According to The Daily Mail, fire crews received a call at 1:02 PM and were forced to cut open the vehicle to extract him. The rescue operation lasted approximately 45 minutes, after which the 34-year-old footballer was transported to the hospital. This season, Antonio has played 14 Premier League matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He joined West Ham in the summer of 2015 from Nottingham Forest for 9.5 million euros. Since then, he has made 323 appearances for the London club and, with 68 goals, is the club's all-time leading scorer in Premier League history.
