Prolific midfielder is still refusing to take a jab, and it will cost him a lot of money
Joshua Kimmich is under fire due to his attitude towards the coronavirus. As things stand, he will have to pay for it, literally.
The decision of the Bayern midfielder not to receive the covid-19 vaccine caused great dissatisfaction of the German public. Although he has been in the centre of attention for days, under pressure to stand in line, Kimmich persistently refuses a jab, and that could cost him a part of his salary.
According to media reports, the boardroom of the current Bundesliga champion has prepared a financial sanction for the deputy captain if he keeps refusing to be vaccinated.
His explanation is as follows:
"It doesn't have to mean I'm an anti-vaxer. It is a shame that only those who have been vaccinated and those who have not been mentioned in this debate. The latter is thus equated with anti-vaxers. No, it just means that there are people who are worried, for whatever reason, and I think we should respect everyone's opinion. I am not saying categorically that I will not get vaccinated, but I am worried. It is absolutely possible that I will receive the vaccine in the future. "
The problem, among other things, escalated after it was determined that Niklas Sule was tested positive on covid. The Bayern defender was ordered to be isolated, and at the same time people close to him must be placed in 14-day quarantine, according to the regulations of the province of Bavaria. Since it has been determined that Kimmich was in contact with Sule, he must also be out of training for two weeks.
Moreover...
"Stadiums are already full because between 60 and 80 per cent of the population has been vaccinated. And Kimmich benefits from that. If all people reacted like him, then we would probably play for another year, like last season, without the presence of fans," explained Mario Gomez, a former Bayern poacher.
Due to the new situation, Bayern will certainly not count on Kimmich for the away tie at Augsburg on November 19, maybe even further, which gives the Bavarians the reason to punish the player. Of course, the German national team will also have to do their work without Joshua in the final days of the World Cup qualifiers.
