Benfica bosses will profit from Manchester United's lack of strategy in the market

Casemiro, the Brazil international who joined Manchester United in mid-2022 and had an impressive first season under Erik Ten Hag, has struggled in the current season. Opposing managers have targeted him, and there are concerns that he might not fit well with the style of play Ten Hag is trying to implement at the club. Some former United figures, like Rene Meulensteen, have expressed doubts about Casemiro's adaptation.

The Brazilian's start in England was so promising. With him, he brought in a wealth of experience, quality and a reputation of a champion, all the things United needed to finally get back on the scene as a genuine title challenger. However, a combination of poor form, age catching up with Case and problems inside the Manchester United dressing room started to expose the painful truth that even such fantastic players must slow down at some point.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes the club might be demanding too much from Casemiro. At the same time, new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe thinks the signing of the 31-year-old Brazilian last year was a mistake.

Spanish media outlet El Nacional reported that Casemiro is reportedly reevaluating his decision to leave Real Madrid and join Manchester United due to the club's challenging performance this season. Casemiro, who initially expressed eagerness to join Manchester United, committed to a long-term contract with the club earlier this year.

However, an ankle injury sustained during international duty has sidelined Casemiro, and he missed Manchester United's recent victory over Sheffield United. He's suspended for tonight's match against Copenhagen. As the club faces challenges this season, the spotlight is on Casemiro, and the question remains whether he can help lead Manchester United to success or if he will continue to regret his decision to leave Real Madrid.

The club is reportedly looking at Joao Neves from Benfica as a potential replacement. United has evaluated Neves and learned that they might need to pay at least $75 million to bring in the 19-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who has come through Benfica's academy and made 32 appearances for the club so far.
