Another injured player for Real

The Spanish giant is facing an injury crisis ahead of Manchester City match

The injury situation at Real Madrid is alarming, worrying, and depressing, especially since in just two days, the Royal Club hosts Manchester City in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16. To start with the main issue — Kylian Mbappe, after returning from Paris, also skipped today’s team training session. According to Marca, this is a clear sign that he will not be in the squad for the match against the second-placed team in the Premier League.

A huge handicap for Los Blancos in one of the most important matches of the season. Moreover, if everything is already lost result-wise after the first match at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, there is a big question whether we will even see Mbappe in the return leg. Until the end of the season, the Frenchman may avoid unnecessary risks, not push beyond his limits, and avoid a serious injury to his already heavily strained knee ligaments — an injury that could keep him out of the FIFA World Cup, where his France national football team is aiming for the trophy.

Another new problem, in the sea of injuries the Spanish giant is drowning in, is the one involving Alvaro Carreras. Real announced on its official website that the Spanish left-back injured the calf of his right leg, which means he will also miss at least the first match against City. Throughout the season the young defender has been a very important piece of Real’s team, but now he too has joined his previously injured teammates in the medical room. The troubles for coach Alvaro Arbeloa are enormous. Carreras will almost certainly be replaced by Ferland Mendy, while Arbeloa is also without Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Dani Ceballos, Éder Militão, and David Alaba.
