Another Arsenal win against Real Madrid

In addition to the one on Wednesday, the London club has once again outsmarted Real Madrid

Real Madrid is forced to wait when it comes to bringing in one of Arsenal's key players. Carlo Ancelotti’s team already had a bad experience with the North London club once this week—on Wednesday, in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, Arsenal demolished them 3-0. Two magical free-kick goals by Declan Rice and a beautiful strike from Mikel Merino gave Arsenal a solid advantage, which they will have to defend in Madrid on Tuesday using all means necessary.

Along with this result that certainly brings a lot of joy to Mikel Arteta’s team and the fans, something that will bring them even more is the news regarding Real Madrid’s summer transfer plans. According to The Athletic, Real Madrid has decided not to make any offer for William Saliba when the transfer window opens, despite the Royal Club being long interested in the Gunners’ defender.

Los Blancos have been in contact with Saliba throughout his time in North London, viewing the 24-year-old as a great addition to their already aging defense. Saliba’s current contract at Arsenal runs until the summer of 2027, but news of a potential extension has discouraged Real Madrid officials from pursuing the player any further—for now.

However, this doesn’t mean that Real Madrid will stop trying to bring in the Frenchman once his contract is up. Signing a center-back has long been a priority in the Spanish capital, and Saliba wasn’t the only name on their radar. Leny Yoro was also on that list before he signed for Manchester United last June.

Saliba has been one of the key components of Arsenal’s success under Arteta in recent years, forming a strong defensive duo with Gabriel at the back.
