One of the strangest player unveilings you’ve ever seen
No one knew what was coming.
Porto pulled off an unusual player presentation just before their friendly match against Atletico Madrid, which also served as their final rehearsal for the new season.
As the stadium announcer at Estadio do Dragao read out the names of the players before the game, one by one they came out onto the pitch. Then, unexpectedly, the name "Luuk de Jong" echoed through the speakers.
No heavy transfer rumours, no leaks, no announcement before. Luuk de Jong (34) was announced as a new FC Porto player live in the stadium with the fans. 💙👏 pic.twitter.com/2oT5FKItPy

The experienced Dutch striker emerged from the tunnel and waved to the fans.
Everyone was caught by surprise, including journalists, who had no idea the club had managed to pull off the transfer in complete secrecy — keeping the deal under wraps within the club until the very moment of the official unveiling.

De Jong had enjoyed three highly successful seasons with PSV, and he joins Porto as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Dutch side.
During his time with the Eindhoven club, he scored 57 goals in 89 appearances.
