By the end of the week, the former Bournemouth manager should be unveiled as the new Reds' head coach
Goodbye, Arne Slot, welcome Andoni Iraola!
Even though the Dutchman's sacking came as a surprise four days ago, Liverpool fans didn't take long to get over his departure, especially after a disappointing 2025/2026 campaign.
Yes, Slot brought the Reds their 20th English league title two years ago, but, as cruel as it sounds, the most recent impression is the one that lasts. And it says that the 47-year-old's time at Anfield was up.
Sacking him was apparently part of the club's plan, as the new manager has already been found.
According to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, the verbal agreement with the Spaniard has been reached, and his official unveiling is expected by the end of the week. He reportedly rejected offers from Crystal Palace, AC Milan, and Bayer Leverkusen before coming to terms with the Reds.

The challenge at Anfield will be by far the most demanding in Iraola's managerial career, as he had previously led the Cypriot AEK Larnaka, Mirandes, and Rayo Vallecano in his homeland, and Bournemouth, where he made a name for himself, guiding them to European qualification (Europa League) for the first time in their history.
Even though the transfer window hasn't started yet, it's clear that the squad Iraola will have at his disposal will be significantly different than the ones led by Slot and even Jurgen Klopp in his final years at Anfield.
Club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are gone, as will be Ibrahima Konate, who is on the verge of a move to Real Madrid.
Hence, the new boss will have to roll up his sleeves and initially deal with finding reinforcements before turning to tactics and formations.
