Ancelotti: 'Coaching Italy would be amazing'

Real Madrid coach was asked about the Brazil but also Italian coaching job

As May 2024 is getting closer, the rhetoric concerning Karlo Ancelotti is getting bigget and bigger. The experienced Italian is only seven months from ending his contract with the Spanish giants, and no extension is in sight. Real’s supremo Florentino Perez is waiting to see how the season works out, and without the La Liga title or Champions League trophy, it’s certain that he will let Ancelotti leave for Brazil. But the Italian is not in a hurry to exchange Madrid with Rio de Janeiro yet. He gave an interview for TV7, and the first part was aired by TG1 on Friday evening.

One of the first questions was about his current job status.

I am happy here, but of course, it takes two to do a wedding. Brazil? Surely there is an interest, but the Real Madrid contract expires on June 30, 2024, and there is time to make the correct decision. Allegri, Mourinho and I are the old generation, which is practical and fights the new generation. Allegri may not amaze, but from what I read, he’s brought Juventus into the top spots” said the Italian.

Then another interesting question followed – would he be interested in managing Italy?

Of course, it would be amazing, but we are in good hands. Spalletti is a top coach and he has proved it. He is very smart and in step with the times” said Ancelotti.

Today, his Real will play against Betis and is bound to see Isco again, who moved from Madrid in 2022 after nine years and five Champions League trophies to Sevilla and then Betis.

"I've seen him play, and he's doing very well. I'm very happy. He's a player who contributes to football. He's one of the players we have to control well" admitted Ancelotti.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini is also one of the former Real employees, as he was the coach for only one season before being dismissed in favour of Jose Mourinho.

"It's not special, neither for me nor for Isco, it doesn't give us a higher grade. We are both, at least from a personal point of view I can say, involved in the work of Betis, in having a good campaign, I don't have any problem with Real Madrid or anything special to want to win it. We want to win it by the three points and to continue advancing in the table" said the Chilean.
