Amorim's 'three-game lifejacket' & five candidates to replace him

The Portuguese's stay at Old Trafford will reportedly depend on the following three matches his team plays against Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland
Rumours about Ruben Amorim's departure from Old Trafford are getting louder by the day. Under the Portuguese, Man United have hit rock bottom, finishing the last season in 15th place, their worst league position in the previous 51 years.
Nevertheless, the club's poor form continued at the beginning of the new campaign as well, since the Red Devils won only four points in as many games and currently sit in 14th spot in the Premier League. The latest 3-0 defeat to Man City in the derby seems to have been the last straw, as Amorim apparently lost the management and several players' trust and was allegedly given an ultimatum.
Namely, as The Mirror reports, the following three matches could serve as the 40-year-old's "lifejacket" or could definitely seal his fate on the Red Devils bench. Hence, if United do not improve their performance and results against Chelsea and Sunderland at home (September 20 and October 4), and Brentford on the road (September 27), Amorim will most likely be sacked during the international break that comes after their clash against the Bees and before the derby match against Liverpool at Anfield (October 19).
🚨 Ruben Amorim effectively has three games to save his Man United career.

Moreover, the same source brings the list of five eventual candidates to replace the Portuguese. Interestingly, only one of them is currently unemployed.
The US national team coach and ex-Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was an alternative last year when Erik ten Hag was sacked and is now reportedly also in the mix. The man who brought Crystal Palace their maiden trophies in the club's history, Oliver Glasner, is another target, as are Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Fulham's Marco Silva. Finally, the only "free agent" on the list is the former England national team manager and one of the most successful Three Lions gaffers ever, Gareth Southgate. So, 18 decisive days are coming for Amorim, and the pressure is piling up. Is he able to withstand it?
