Dickson Ambundo admits that the Tanzanian league is a class above the Kenyan one at the moment.
Former Gor Mahia midfielder Dickson Ambundo has opened up on the difference between the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) and the Tanzanian Premier League.
Ambundo was signed as a replacement to Francis Kahata who left the club back in 2019 to join Simba SC after impressing during his spell with Mbao FC in the Super Cup where they eliminated Gor Mahia.
K'Ogalo failed to extend the one-year loan deal with Ambundo as he left in July 2020 to join newly-promoted side Dodoma Jiji who have posted impressive results since their promotion.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ambundo opened up on the difference between the Kenyan and Tanzanian league with the latter seeing an influx of Kenyan players.
“Here (Tanzania) all the matches are on TV unlike in Kenya where only selected matches are live. In Tanzania if the fans cannot make it to the stadium they can still follow their teams on TV, they don’t have a bias to big teams,”

“For now I think the Tanzanian league has more quality than the Kenyan one - there is more competitiveness and motivation to the players and it’s even more entertaining when you watch it,” said Ambundo.
The 25-year-old revealed that he would have loved to extend his stay at Gor Mahia but the club failed to offer him a new deal.
“I was left with no option because my contract at the club ended and we failed to reach an agreement over a new contract with forced me to return back home,”
“If I was given a new contract of course I would have extended my stay at the club but if other teams like AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks would have come for my services I would have signed with them,” he added.
Ambundo however remained tight-lipped on his case with Gor Mahia after the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber ordered K'Ogalo to pay him Ksh1.3 million which led to their transfer ban.
