Mara made their debut in the second tier in the past campaign.

Former Kenyan international John Baraza has set automatic promotion to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League as Mara Sugar's irreducible minimum in the new term.

The sugar men will be in their second season in the National Super League in the new term that Baraza anticipates that it will be their last in the competition.

Baraza who joined Mara in May after leaving Equity FC said his focus was catapulting the team to the top flight in line with the objective of the management.

The former player said the past season gave the technical bench an opportunity to understand the demands of the competition and will approach the new season armed with all ingredients required for a team to fight for promotion.

"We do not want to stay in the NSL for another season. Every team wants to play in the top level and that's where we want to be next year. Last season we did not perform well as it was our first time but we have no excuses to make in our second stab," he revealed.

To achieve automatic promotion, the former Sofapaka forward disclosed his intentions of signing new players to boost the team for the task ahead.

Baraza said he was looking at bringing new players in all departments to not only provide options but also inject competition.

"We will definitely sign new players in order for us to achieve our target. We have identified them and are currently negotiating with them," he said.

Regarding the number of players who would leave the club either for greener pastures or for new challenges, Baraza said the club was staring at the possibility of losing at least four players.
