Alwanga made his first appearance of the season before a ban in sporting activities.
Mathare United forward Clifford Alwanga was dismayed by the timing of the ban on sporting activities in the country just when he had made a return to action after a lengthy lay off.
Alwanga made his first appearance of the season in the Slum Boys last game against Posta Rangers before President Uhuru Kenyatta announced a ban in sporting activities.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Alwanga revealed that the move left him dejected especially after the team was embroiled in a relegation battle.
“I was really disappointed because I was out for a while and I had just made a comeback, the team was also in a bad position which made the timing bad,”
“My plan was to help the team move away from relegation places then the ban happened but I pray that sports resume, we will be back to our best,” said Alwanga.

The former Tusker FC forward suffered a knee injury during one of the preseason games back in November 2020.
Alwanga added that being robbed of a chance to play was the hardest part during his road to recovery but credited the club's team doctor for a crucial role in the rehabilitation process.
“It was really painful because you stop doing what you love due to an injury, but I thank God because I’m back to full fitness,”
“Staying on the treatment table was not that hard because our team doctor did a good job, missing games was the hardest part,” added the talisman.
