Alright folks, three penalties to level the score – can we do it?

Incredible! Gian Piero Gasperini’s side was awarded three consecutive penalties to equalize — and the outcome? All three were brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper!

In one of this round’s Europa League derbies, French side Lille managed to secure an away victory against Roma. The match had been fairly uneventful until a remarkable sequence unfolded: the first penalty was awarded, then a second, then a third — and remarkably, all three were saved. The team from Italy’s capital will surely have plenty to regret.

The match got off to a dramatic start as Lille took the lead in the 6th minute. Roma’s Tsimikas lost possession just after Lille crossed the halfway line, and Haraldsson capitalized brilliantly to put the visitors ahead. The goal is HERE!

Roma tried to respond, with El Aynaoui testing the Lille goal from 25 meters in the 22nd minute, but his effort went wide. Three minutes later, Pellegrini fired a shot out of desperation, which the Lille goalkeeper easily collected.

Lille continued to find space too easily in Roma’s box. In the 30th minute, Sahraoui combined with a teammate before taking a shot, but it missed the target.

Roma had a big chance in the 35th minute when Tsimikas struck twice, with the second rebound falling to El Aynaoui. His shot, however, was cleared off the line by Mandi, keeping Lille in front.

The second half began with a scare for Roma in the 47th minute, when Mile Svilar fumbled under pressure as Olivier Giroud challenged him in the air, nearly spilling the ball.

Just a few minutes later, Lille pushed forward again. In the 51st minute, Nabil Bentaleb tried his luck from distance, but his strike sailed over the crossbar. The visitors then had a golden opportunity in the 54th minute when Giroud found himself almost one-on-one on the left side, but Svilar stood tall and made a crucial save to deny the Frenchman.

Roma finally responded with a clear chance of their own in the 56th minute. From a corner delivery, Lewis Ferguson rose highest and powered a header just wide of the post — the closest Roma had come up to that point.

As the game wore on, Roma pushed for an equaliser. In the 74th minute, Matias Soule tried from 20 meters, but his shot lacked power and posed no real threat to Lille’s goalkeeper.

The match reached its dramatic climax in the 80th minute. Following a Roma corner, Mandi handled the ball inside the area. Initially unnoticed, the foul was spotted after a VAR review, and Roma were awarded a penalty. Artem Dovbyk stepped up, but his shot was saved by Ozer. However, the goalkeeper was off his line too early, and the penalty was retaken. Dovbyk tried again, only for Ozer to save once more — and once again he had moved off his line. For the third attempt, Soule took responsibility, but incredibly, Ozer denied him as well. Three consecutive penalty saves by the Lille keeper stunned the Stadio Olimpico crowd in a truly unbelievable sequence.
