All eyes on London derby, Arsenal face relegation-strugglers

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 01.11.25. | 16:18

While the UCL sides, Tottenham and Chelsea, will lock horns in the English capital, the table-toppers will play Burnley on the road, aiming to extend their eight-game winning run

Although Tottenham are third and Chelsea are ninth in the Premier League, the two sides from the capital are separated by only three points. Hence, the derby today could either strengthen Spurs' position in the top four or help the Blues join the leading group.

Enzo Maresca's men were on a two-win streak when they lost 2-1 to Sunderland at home and spoiled everything, allowing the Black Cats to reach fourth spot. On the other hand, Thomas Frank's crew bounced back after a defeat to Aston Villa and moved to third position, beating Everton 3-0 on the road.

Tradition doesn't work in Tottenham's favour, as they lost the last four encounters with Chelsea. Nevertheless, the current form gives them a fair reason for optimism.

Maresca still cannot count on the injured Cole Palmer, though he may have found his "clone" in the rest of the squad. Namely, asked by Sky Sports about Estevao, the Italian said:

"He's top. He's a little bit like, Cole Palmer. They are special. They are different. And they are the reason why people came to the stadium."

And while the two London teams lock horns in the capital, about 380 km to the north, the EPL table-toppers Arsenal will face Burnley.

The Gunners are on an eight-game winning run, and no one at Emirates Stadium definitely thinks about anything other than extending it against the Clarets. However, Scott Parker's crew is on a two-win streak itself, so they await the duel full of confidence.

Mikel Arteta won't have Gabriel Martinelli at his disposal, so Leandro Trossard will probably start again, while William Saliba is questionable. If the Frenchman isn't ready, Cristhian Mosquera will most likely take his place as Gabriel Magalhaes' centre-back partner.

Burnley are winless against Arsenal since December 2020, though they managed to salvage a draw twice in the last five encounters, so an exciting game is undoubtedly upon us.
