The seriousness of those injuries are yet to be determined
The things coaches fear the most — injuries during the international break. And Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal have been hit with two decidedly unpleasant ones. It appears that Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori will return to the club earlier than planned.
These are all the Arsenal players who can play at left-back:

Even if Calafiori gets injured, Arsenal still have three players who can fill in at left-back — that’s insane squad depth! 😳 pic.twitter.com/I40MPs3wqx
In fact, the Italian has already left the national team, which was confirmed earlier by the Azzurri head coach, Gennaro Gattuso.
“Calafiori has left the training camp. We tried with him, but he had several problems. We thank him for his dedication — he stayed here for a week, he might even have been able to play, but that wouldn’t have been fair to him or to Arsenal” said the former Marseille manager.
Bad news for Arsenal fans also came from Brazil’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who, unlike Gattuso, specified the type of injury Gabriel suffered. The London club’s center-back felt pain in the groin area during the friendly match against Senegal, played at the Emirates, and was forced to leave the game midway through the second half.
“Is it bad? I don’t know. He suffered an adductor injury. The medical staff has to examine him. We’re sorry about this, we’re very disappointed. When a player gets injured, you hope he recovers quickly,” said Ancelotti.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that’s exactly what happens. The importance these two players have had for the Premier League leaders this season is best shown by the fact that they started every one of the 11 league matches. And not only are they among the most responsible for the London club conceding just five goals, but they have also contributed on the other end of the pitch, as both have scored one goal and provided two assists.
