Ailing Naya upbeat ahead of second chemotherapy session

Teenage midfielder is bravely fighting cancer that has halted his football career.
Former Sofapaka midfielder Wisdom Naya who was recently diagnosed with cancerous soft tissue Sarcoma. He is positive that he will beat the disease as he heads to an Eldoret hospital to start his second chemotherapy session on Wednesday morning.
The 17-year old began his chemo sessions three weeks ago and he says he has already noticed positive changes.
“I definitely feel better. My leg is lighter (sic), the pain has also reduced largely and I am confident that things will get better, I will beat cancer, “ the youngster told Mozzart Sports.

The former St. Anthony’s Boys player moved back to his rural home in Kitale after he was released by Batoto Ba Mungu and he says being closer to his family during this period makes the recovery journey easier for him.
“Being with my family is helping me a lot because they are taking good care of me and so mentally I am in a good place which is important in this journey,” he added.
When he went public with his condition, the youngster received massive support from within and outside the country and he went on to thank everyone that helped him in whichever way.
“I want to thank all well-wishers. I received overwhelming help from within and outside the country, may God bless them abundantly,” he concluded.
Naya started his football career at St Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale. He won the nation Copa U16 title in 2018 with the team. In the same year, he won the Copa Africa U16 title with the Saints, the tournament was staged in Nakuru Kenya.
In 2019 he was part of St. Anthony’s team that bagged the national u19 title in Kisumu. After school, he moved to Sofapaka but did not make any competitive appearance before he was released. He also received several call-ups to the Kenya U17 team but did not feature.
