Stima forward calls on teammates to treat remaining rounds as a final.

Western Stima captain Kennedy Otieno has urged his teammates to treat their remaining league matches as a final so as to beat the drop.

Stima are staring at the danger of meeting the wrath of the axe as they have won two out of their eighteen matches and subsequently, hover a place above the red zone.

Their dismal run in the league claimed Paul Ogai's scalp in February with his place taken by Abdallah Juma who has also struggled to find his footing in the top flight after spending the past four seasons in the lower echelons.

Juma who has been on record insisting that the Kisumu-based club which is said to be on the verge of rebranding will not sink to the second tier has been backed by Otieno who believes that their prayers will only come to pass should they approach each match at a time and as a final.

The former Posta Rangers forward who is commonly known as Agogo returned to the club at the start of the season after spending a couple of seasons with Gor Mahia whom he won the title.

"We have no choice other than to take every match like a final. My teammates should accept that the team is flirting with relegation and focus on helping the team out instead of soaking in the pressure of getting out of the red zone as soon as possible. Playing under pressure will not yield the much sought after result, " he said.

Otieno who has his sights trained on netting at least eight goals from the remaining rounds admitted that he had no plans to ditch the struggling club.

The former Thika United player said Stima welcomed him back with open arms after he was deemed surplus to requirement at Gor and will endeavour to repay them by ensuring that they keep their top-flight status.

Stima travel to take on league returnees Nairobi City Stars in their next match on Tuesday.
