Afro Juve annihilate faceless Milan in Serie A derby

Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula team up for a deserved 2-0 home win

For almost an hour we had been under the impression that Juventus and Milan won't give us anything to enjoy in what should have been a good old Serie A derby. Thankfully, two Bianconeri players of African origins had other plans, and turned this rather dull encounter into a proper game in just five minutes.

Once-title contenders were locked in a stalemate before Samuel Mbangula nailed a lovely opener around the hour mark, with a little help from Emerson Royal, as the ball deflected off him and fooled Mike Maignan between the sticks.

That was Mbangula's, a Belgium player of Congolese origins, only third goal for Juve after making a debut in the opening game of the season, when he also netted.

It took Thiago Motta's team just five minutes to double the lead, thus wrapping up the tie through another attacker of African descent - Timothy Weah. The US international and the son of legendary Liberian ace George Weah reacted superbly in Milan's box, slotting it low into the far corner for 2-0.

Sergio Conceicao's pale side just couldn't get back from a two-goal deficit, as their key players, like Rafael Leao, were constantly unable to get anywhere near the Rossoneri goal after a handful of missed chances on one occasion in the first half.
