AFCONq: Atlas Lions rip Panthers apart for a perfect group win!

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 16.11.24. | 00:59

Morocco destroy Gabon 5-1 on their soil to finish their campaign without a single draw, let alone defeat

Imagine having the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina in your squad and being thumped 5-1 at home!

That's precisely what happened to Gabon on Friday night as the Panthers were humiliated by mighty Morocco, that came from behind to annihilate the rival. The Atlas Lions have registered their fifth victory in the same number of games.

Interestingly, Gabon got in front early in the game, through Denis Bouanga. However, that was it from the hosts, as the North African side managed to turn things around before the 20th minute.

Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz was sensational, scoring a brace to push his team to a brutal, statement win. En-Nesyri joined him in the second half, and the group leaders tore runners up apart.

The Atlas Lions have deservedly booked their AFCON ticket, while the Panthers ought to clinch at least a draw in the last game against Central African Republic and reach the continental showpiece at the hands of Lesotho.
